Food Safety 101 – Ergonomics In The Workplace

Ergonomics is the scientific study of people’s efficiency in the workplace and the physical demands of their jobs. An effective ergonomics program can decrease work related injuries, increase work productivity and increase employees’ satisfaction.

Tracey Eccles, an Ergonomic Specialist at Wayco Multi-Lift Inc. says “Common examples of ergonomic risk factors are found in jobs requiring repetitive, forceful or prolonged exertions of the hands; frequent or heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of heavy objects; and prolonged awkward postures”.
