Arkansas Processor Faces a 1.25 Million Pound Recall
Canadian Packaging – George’s Inc., an Arkansas-based processor of chicken products has been forced to recall some 1.25 million pounds of product because of misbranding.
The chicken products contain wheat—an undeclared allergen—and was actually discovered by George’s Inc. after a routine in-house label review.
According to George’s, a printer failed to print certain ingredients onto the packaging, but notes that the technical glitch has been corrected.
Although no one has reported any allergic attacks, the recall includes:
- 10-lb. cases of “George’s Uncooked Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins” with Case Code 4831 and packaging dates between Feb. 21, 2013 and Dec. 19, 2013.
- 10-lb. cases of “George’s Uncooked Chicken Tenderloin Fritters” with Case Code 4861 and packaging dates between Feb. 21, 2013 and Jan. 4, 2014.
- 10-lb. cases of “George’s Uncooked Chicken Tenderloin Fritters” with Case Code 4880 and packaging dates between Feb. 21, 2013 and Jul. 19, 2013.
